Harold Roy Bauder, 92, of Hawarden died Thursday, December 20, 2001 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Loren Vogler officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery.
Bauder was born March 27, 1909, in Garfield Township in Sioux County near Lebanon, to John and Amelia (Pfarrer) Bauder. He was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church south of Rock Valley. He attended country school through the eighth grade. At the age of 13, he became a hired man for area farmers. He married Minnie Gayer of Rock Valley on February 25, 1936, at Peace Lutheran Church. The couple began farming east of Hawarden, They retired to Hawarden in 1982. He maintained the city parks for 16 years.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served on the finance board for many years. He entered Hillcrest Health Care Center on January 17, 2000.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years; a daughter and her husband, Marge and Don Dimmick of Hawarden; two sons and their wives, Darrell and Dorothy of Moorhead, Minnesota, and Larry and Joann of Hawarden; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother and his wife, Arthur and Esther of Rock Valley.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Walter, and three sisters, Alma Hevern, Mabel Haag and Mildred Ricklefs.
