On September 22, 1930, Myrtle was united in marriage with Robert L. Reed in Indianola, Iowa and to this union two daughters were born. Bob worked for the W. P. A. and they lived in Boone, Albia, Earlham, Clear Lake, Mason City, Forest City, Kentucky for four years while Bob help build the first Atomic Energy plant and in Des Moines for 40 years. Myrtle worked for the Peru Telephone Company in Peru, Iowa. Bob preceded her in death on May 3, 1992 and Myrtle moved to Eagle Grove in 1993.
Myrtle was a member of the Church of Christ in Des Moines and United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking, playing the organ, reading, genealogy and traveling – she never made it to North Dakota or Alaska and wintered in Texas.
Myrtle passed on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove, at the age of 100 years and six months. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, son-in-law, Joseph Asche; five brothers, one sister and great-grandson-in-law, Joel Newton
Survivors include her daughters, M. Eileen Reed and Leola M. Asche of Eagle Grove; grandchildren:
Todd Asche (Kathie) of Grimes, Steven Asche (Melia) of Eagle Grove, Debra Farwell (Greg) of Eagle Grove and Jane Williamson (Ray) of Eagle Grove; eight great-grandchildren: Jessica Hanshaw (Paul) of Grimes, Jennifer Olson (Rusty) of Garner, Johanna Lawson (PJ) of Eagle Grove, Jill Newton of Humboldt, Lucas Asche (Amy) of Minburn, Bradley Asche (Breann) of Glenwood, Bart Asche (Alissa Jessen) of Eagle Grove and Kurtis Williamson (Emily) of Altoona; eight great great-grandchildren: Ethan and Abigal Asche, Easton Hanshaw, Dylan and Kaden Williamson, Mahlynn Olson, Brody Asche and Avery Lawson and sister, Gladys Kohler of Winterset.
