Ruth DeBartolo, 78, of Chetek passed away at Knapp Haven Nursing Home Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, holding the hand of her loving, devoted husband, Carlo.
Ruth was born May 7, 1927, in Chicago, Ill., to William and Cecelia Leyendecker. On May 14, 1949, Ruth married Carlo DeBartolo. They were each other's best friend and rejoiced for each day spent together. They defined the word love.
Ruth chose to be an at-home mother, raising their two daughters through love and devotion. Ruth modeled what a mother should be to her daughters, empowering them to follow in her footsteps. Ruth was also an excellent, loving grandmother to her grandchildren. She embraced each grandchild with love, kindness and generosity. She was an animal lover, often bringing home strays so they would not be alone. As a friend, there was no one better than Ruth. She spoke highly of everyone and treated all with kindness.
Ruth is survived by her devoted husband, Carlo of Chetek; daughters, Cecilia (Terry) Marc of Chetek and Virginia (Terry) Toomey of Hickory Hills, Ill.; grandchildren, Laura (Brian) Johanson of Spring Valley, Katie Marc of Osceola, David Marc of Eau Claire, and Erin (fiancÚ Tom) Toomey of Hickory Hills, Ill.; two sisters; several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Ruth's death will change her family's lives forever. It is said, time heals all things, so the family will wait.
A later private interment will be held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Illinois.
