MARION - Services for Fannie Pamplin Owens, 93, will be held at 4 p.m. today at the Marion Church of God, with Rev. Steve Small officiating. Burial will follow in Devotion Gardens Cemetery, directed by Smith-Collins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Marion Church of God, 1401 N. Main St., Marion, SC 29571.
Mrs. Owens, widow of Lawrence Brailsford Owens, died Tuesday, July 6, 1999 at Loris Community Hospital after an illness. Born December 9, 1905 in North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late John and Nora Lillie Owens. She retired as a nurse from Marion Memorial Hospital, where she worked for 33 years. She was a member of the Retired Nurses Club and a member of the Marion Church of God, where she was in the Ladies Sunday School class.
Surviving are her sons, Lawrence Brailsford Owens of Atlanta, James Douglas Owens of Marion, Robert Austin Owens of Florence; daughters, Genevive Phillips of Marion, Annie Irene Large of Knoxville, Tenn., Essie Mae Rainear of Charleston, Lillie Ruth Trayser of Calabash, N.C.; sister, Joyce Berry of Roxboro, N.C.; 28 grandchildren; 43 great- grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Franklin Lester Owens, and a daughter, Mary Kate O. Kramer.
