Geraldine M. "Jerry" Popovich, 85, of Alliance, died on Friday, August 17, 2007, at 5:00 p.m. at Aultman Hospital in Canton.
She was born on February 22, 1922, in Ludlow, KY. She had lived in Alliance for most of her life, residing recently in North Canton, Ohio.
She retired from the Alliance Mfg. Company, where she was employed as a machine operator.
Mrs. Popovich was a member of the Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees, the DAV Chapter 50, and the Alliance Senior Citizens Center.
Jerry always had the time to listen or help a friend and she loved her neighbors as if they were her family.
Her daughter, Kathy S. Long of North Canton, who considered her mother as her dearest and best friend, survives, along with several nieces and nephews.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, John Popovich, on January 6, 1997, whom she married on October 7, 1942; her parents, Richard and Mae (Delk) Trimble; her son-in-law, James H. Long, who was like Jerry's own son; and all of her siblings.
Funeral services will be held at Highland Memorial Park Chapel on Tuesday, August 21, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park. There will be no calling hours.
