Clifford W. Mitchell, 79, of 603 Leroy Road, North Syracuse, died Wednesday at a local nursing home.

Mr. Mitchell was a life resident of the Syracuse area. He retired in 1973 after several years with Onondaga Tool Corp. His wife, Ruth, died in 1978.

Mr. Mitchell was a member of Onondaga Lodge 802, F&AM, the Central City Consistory of the Scottish Rite and the Tigris Temple Shrine. He was a former president of the Shrine's Field Band and a member of the Keder Kahn Grotto.

Surviving are a daughter, Joyce A. Toleson of Constantia; two brothers, James E. of Leesburg, S.C., and Robert N. of North Syracuse; three grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Welter-Price Funeral Home. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 2649 James St. Masonic services will be at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital.
