Heart Disease Proves Fatal After Decline
Was Well Known in Elkhorn--Funeral Services Held Wednesday Morning
Harley Wales, 42, who was born and raised in Elkhorn and was widely known in this section, died at his home in Beloit Monday morning after a decline of about two months. Heart disease was the cause of death. While working on a structure at Clinton about three years ago he was injured and heart trouble developed. He had suffered from the disease since that time but during the past two months his decline was pronounced.
Harley Smith Wales was born in Elkhorn, February 24, 1887. He was reared in Elkhorn and attended the grade and high school here. He was married to Mayfred Bristol in this city, January 3, 1911. For the past several years he has been engaged in the electrical business and has worked in this city and at Sharon where he lived for some time. For a short while he operated the Sharon picture show. After coming to Elkhorn about two years ago they moved to Beloit where he continued in the electrical business.
He is survived by his wife and three children; Everett 16, Clayton, 14 and Margery 13. His mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wales reside in this city. He is also survived by one brother and three sisters: Merton of Winnepeg, Canada, Mrs. Percy Harrington, Alymer, Ontario, Mrs. Arthur Ferge, Elkhorn, and Mrs. Ray Kinney, Lake Geneva.
The funeral services were held at the Wales home in this city Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock with the Rev. F. P. O. Reed of St. John's Episcopal church officiating. Burial was in the Hazel Ridge cemetery.
The bearers were Herbert, Burton, Henry, and Charles Wales and Earl Abell and Lee Welkos.
Mrs. Percy Harrington arrived Tuesday from Aylmer, Ont.. Mr. and Mrs. Millard Mills came from Beloit to attend the funeral.
