From The ancestors and descendants of Isaac Alden and Irene Smith, his wife (1599-1903)

"ISAAC ALDEN II, fourth son of Isaac Alden, (35), was born at Ashfield, Mass., February 19, 1789, and removed with his parents to Western, N. Y., in 1794. When quite a young man he left home and found his way to the Mississippi River, thence to New Orleans, afterward removing to northwestern Louisiana, to what was then the extensive Claiborne Parish, from which tract the parishes of Webster, Bossier and Bienville have since been made. Here he became the owner of a large plantation. But his whereabouts must long have been a matter of uncertainty, for in the old Family Bible it is recorded of him : "Isaac Alden, Jun'r, supposed to have died in the army in the spring of 1808, at New Orleans." This entry is then crossed out, and the following added: "Isaac Alden not dead, but returned from Natchitoches, June, 1821."

After a residence of many years in the South, he finally returned to his old home for a visit. His father, meanwhile, had died, and his widowed mother was living in Warren, Pa., with her son Richard. By his glowing descriptions of a country where the conditions of life seemed easier, he persuaded her to return with him, and she made her home in Louisiana until about the year 1833-'34.

Isaac Alden was married, April 27, 1834, to Sallie Henderson, of Tennessee, of whom nothing further can be learned except the record of her death in the old Bible which reads : "Sallie Alden died August 24, 1848."

He is described by those who once knew him, as a most interesting man, greatly beloved, not only by his family, but by all who were brought under the influence of his genial, hospitable nature. He died about the year 1870, and has no living descendants; nor is the order of birth of
the three children born to him, accurately known."

He married 2nd on 7/18/1849 to Sarah Robertson, a widow.

He is listed on the 1850 Bienville Parish census as head of household, 62 years old, born in Ohio, with Sarah E. Alden(46), Isaac Alden (10), William H. Robinson (23), Jesse H. Robinson (13), and Fereby Alden (18) in the household. He is mentioned on a deed between Sarah Alden and her grandchildren dated 1/24/1868. He apparently died between the 1868 deed and the 1870 census.

It is believed that he and his wives are buried on family land just off of Lake Road in Webster Parish. There are old family stories of tombstones that were seen in a field at one time many years ago. It is not known if any markers remain. It is a pine thicket now.

More research is needed.
