Mary Louise Hunter Groth, 77 of Ririe, died Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at The Gardens Assisted Living Center in Rigby.

She was born January 2, 1937, in Idaho Falls to David Earl Hunter and Mary Ella Olney. Her mother died when she was very young and she was raised by her father Earl and mother, Hettie Hunter. She attended schools in Ririe, graduating from Ririe High School. On November 30, 1955, she married John Harvey Groth in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were blessed with 3 daughters and 1 son.

In addition to being a homemaker, mother, farmer and rancher's wife, Mary Lou worked as a Teachers Aid, a Migrant Coordinator and a Laborer. Mary Lou was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she served in various callings including Primary Secretary. She loved music and sang with the Chansonnettes singing group for 25 years and sang at many funerals over the years.

Mary Lou is survived by her daughters, Shawna Marie (Randy) Branch, of Snowville, Utah, Susan (Lyle) Schwartz of Idaho Falls, Jana Lee (Derek) Inns, of Rexburg, sister, Lila (George) Wilkerson, of Idaho Falls, brothers, David E. (Bobbie) Hunter, of Castor Valley, CA, Robert A. (Berta) Hunter, of Ririe, Charles M. (Sue) Hunter of Idaho Falls, 13 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, John Harvey Groth Jr. and great grandson, Stellan Branch.

The family expresses appreciation to the Hands of Hope Hospice and the entire staff at The Gardens for their loving care.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 31, 2014 at the Ririe Stake Center. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Sunday and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services, both at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe Shelton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of Utah, 855 East 4800 South, Suite 100 Salt Lake City, Utah 84107.
