Gerald E. "Shorty" Minor Sr., age 68, of Carmichaels died Saturday, March 22, 2014 in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg, after a long illness.
He was born May 20, 1945, in Ronco, Fayette County, a son of the late George L. Sr. and Thelma Bennett Minor.
Mr. Minor worked in Detroit, Mich., in his youth. He returned to Greene County and worked for Cumberland Township and Carmichaels Borough, repairing roads until he was no longer able.
Surviving are three sons, Gerald E. Minor Jr. and wife Jennifer of Morgantown, W.Va., James C. Minor and wife Leah of Carmichaels, and Charles E. Minor and wife Heather of Carmichaels; six grandchildren, Logan James Minor, Joseph Minor, Alivia Minor, Anthonie Minor, Ashleigh Minor and Addison Minor "Pappy's Baby"; a sister, Mary Agnes Wilson of Point Marion, three brothers, John and Thomas Minor, both of Detroit, and Joseph Minor of Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a brother, George L. Minor Jr.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 1 to 2 p.m., the time of services, Wednesday, March 26, in Lesako Funeral Home, 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, Pa. 15320, Paul M. Lesako, funeral director/supervisor/owner. Interment will follow in Church Hill Cemetery, McClellandtown.
