Henry Sunderman, eighty-nine years old, died at 8 o'clock yesterday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Gunzenhauser, 1325 North Jefferson street. He had been bedfast five months as the result of a fall when he fractured his hip.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. C. F. J. Wirsing Monday afternoon with a short service at the residence at 1:30 o'clock and services later at the St. Peter's Lutheran church. The body will lie in state until the hour of the funeral but the casket will not be opened at the church. It has been requested that no flowers be sent.
Mr. Sunderman was born July 29, 1832 in Province Hanover, Germany to Mr. and Mrs. John Sunderman. His marriage to Miss Sophia Van Kampen took place December 17, 1852. The family came to America July 3, 1880 and resided in New York. April 16, 1881, they moved to Huntington County and settled on a farm west of this city. Sixteen years ago, Mr. Sunderman retired and following the death of his wife, he had resided with his daughter.
Surviving are three sons, John Sunderman west of Huntington; George Sunderman of Mena, Kas., and Henry Sunderman of Huntington, and one daughter, Mrs. Gunzenhauser. One son, William, is deceased.
Mr. Sunderman was a member of the St. Peter's Lutheran church.
