Charles served as a Private First Class, Company C, 350th Infantry, 88th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.
He resided in Grafton County, New Hampshire prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Army on November 19, 1942 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted as being employed as a Stock Clerk and also as Single, without dependents.
Charles was "Killed In Action" during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.
At the families request, his state of birth was added to his headstone (Vermont) instead of his state of residence (New Hampshire).
