Mr. Raynard Matt Jokie, 91, of Smiths Creek, died Sunday, October 9, 2011 in Regency On The Lake, Ft. Gratiot.
He was born July 22, 1920 in Laurium, Michigan to the late Charles & Mary Jokie. He married Lillian Bourdo on September 20, 1941 in Detroit.
Raynard served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked as a union carpenter for Port Huron Local #1067. He was a member of the St. Clair County Sheriff's Dive and Rescue Team for over 20 years, belonged to the Deep Six Diving Club out of Marysville and belonged to the Caloosa Woodcarvers Club in Ft. Myers, Florida.
He enjoyed swimming, fishing, pheasant hunting, wood carving and spending his winters in Fort Myers.
He is survived by his wife Lillian of 70 years; two sons, Roy (Gloria) Jokie of Ft. Myers and Fred (Alice "Cookie") Jokie of Smiths Creek; two daughters, Marjorie Hall of Sandusky and Jackie (Neil) Hamann of Marysville; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a brother, Charles Jokie; and two sisters, Rose and Elsie McDonald.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2011 in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1350 6th Street, Marysville. Pastor Gary Wesch will officiate. Arrangements are by Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock Street, Port Huron
