LONG GROVE, Iowa - Services for August "Pete" Kuehl, of Long Grove, will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at the mortuary. Mr. Kuehl died Saturday, April 24, 1999, at Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Davenport. He and his wife owned and operated the Kuehl's Tavern, Long Grove, for 39 years.
Pete was born June 3, 1910, in Germany, the son of Hans and Emma (Strahlendorf) Kuehl. He married Mildred Christiansen in October of 1940 in Manchester, Iowa. She preceded him in death on August 15, 1986. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or a favorite charity. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Bernie Happ, Milan, Ill.; a son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Carol Kuehl, Eldridge; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Doug and Jennifer Friedline, Moline; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Dawn and Ken Cochrane, Marion; grandsons, D.J. Friedline and Tyson Kuehl, both of Iowa City, and Chad Kuehl, Eldridge; a granddaughter, Dana Friedline, Moline; two great-granddaughters, Brittany and Tiffany Penney, both of Moline; a sister, Frieda Beenken, Grundy Center, Iowa; and a brother, Werner Kuehl, Davenport. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Bill, Ernest, Richard, Hans, and Otto Kuehl.
