HEPTON, Clara Anna (Dziuk)
Passed away on December 29, 2008 at her home on Asotin Creek surrounded by loving family and caregivers.
Clara was born February 20, 1915 in Spokane, WA., to Tom and Mary Schmidt Dziuk. She was the middle child with an older sister, Agnes, and a younger brother, Jim. She graduated from North Central High School in Spokane and married Virgil John Hepton in May of 1936.
Three children were soon added to the family, Robert, Patricia and David. The couple farmed at Greenacres, WA., for almost 50 years until Virgil's death in 1984. Mom continued to raise cattle and hay with the help of her son, Bob.
Mom will forever be remembered as a gracious hostess and a true lady of many talents. She was an excellent seamstress who could sew anything from bridesmaid's dresses to coats for her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle. For many years, she was a hostess for Welcome Wagon in the Spokane Valley. Designing houses and drawing her own plans were a special talent she loved. She planned and helped build eight houses over the years, living in each for awhile, then selling them for a nice profit which allowed her to start over again.
A stroke and several falls neccessitated her move to Asotin to live with Bob and Judy in 2002. Mom was able to live out her life in her beautiful Park Model home next to our house where she could enjoy the deer, wild turkeys and numerous other birds. She was blessed to have wonderful caregivers who loved her and kept her comfortable these past three years.
Survivors include, Robert and wife Judy Hepton of Asotin, Granddaughter, Jackie and husband Dwight Fleming of Enterprise, OR., Grandson John and wife Jodi, and their children Jocelyn and Jordan Hepton, of Nampa, ID., and Grandson Jeff and wife Tiffany, and their children Jailynn and Jenissa Hepton of East Wenatchee, WA., and son, David Hepton of Spokane. Sister, Agnes Barrie of Kent, WA., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Patricia, and her brother, Jim Dziuk.
A service will be held in the Spokane Valley on Friday, January 9, at 11:00 at the St. Joseph chapel and cemetery with a meal and reminiscing time to follow. Mom always enjoyed and supported her grandchildren's 4-H and FFA years and with that in mind, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Asotin County Livestock Building Fund, P.O. Box 370, Asotin, WA 99402.
