J. Jack Horton was the youngest son of Joe and Ruth Horton. Jack was born and grew up on their farm in Bangs, Texas. In 1952 Jack married Marian Leitha Bushong, whom he met while attending Abilene Christian College. They had four children Vickie, Brenda, Jody, and Tammy. Jack had no other children. Jack and Marian were divorced in 1964. He went on to marry Edna Braley, Lyndell Brown, and Kristen Palm.

Jack attended the Texas Chiropractic college and upon graduation moved to Kerrville, TX and opened his chiropractic practice. Jack was a great chiropractor who studied endlessly to improve his knowledge and skills.

Jack loved to sing and his daughter Vickie inherited his love of song. They sang together many times.

Jack was proceeded in death by his parents Joseph Cloumbus Horton and Ruth Viola Jones Horton, brothers Joseph Coyle Horton and Terrell Graham Horton and sister Dula Ozelle "Zelle" Petmecky.

Jacks cremains will be scattered on the ocean.
