John was the youngest of six children born to John D. and Ellen (Ward)and Jenkins.
John A. Logan Jenkins died when he was but 26 years, 7 months and 7 days old. The cause of his death is not known. A recent trip to the Somers Methodist Church Cemetery was made but a headstone for him was not found. There are many graves with headstones that are so badly weathered that they can no longer be read, some are broken and unreadable and then there are the graves that are marked with only a pile of stones or a large stone.
It was learned on this trip, that he was probably named for Gen. John A. Logan, who was a Confederate Civil War hero. There were many that were named for this man.
