Roy Lee Ownby of Spring City, formerly of Tellico Plains, beloved husband, father and grandfather, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Aug. 14, surrounded by his loving family. He had a love for nature and animals and loved to wagon train in the mountains.

He was 71.

Preceded in death by: parents, Thomas and Maude Ownby; brothers, James and Arvin Ownby; and daughter, Debby.

Survivors include: loving wife-Judy of Spring City;

Sons-Junior and David of Chatsworth, Ga.;

Daughters and sons-in-law-Charlotte and Clinton Esarey of Paducah, Ky.; and Glenda and Kenny Thomas of Chatsworth;

Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews;

Sisters and brothers-in-law-Helen and Charlie Baker of Tellico Plains; Betty Adams of Madisonville; Mary and Bob Welch of Riceville; Mae and Raymond Banks of Chatsworth; and Jane Tallent of Cleveland;

Sisters-in-law-Belinda and Luke Jett of Rocky Face, Ga.; Evelyn Ownby Gibson of Sevierville; and Betty and Joe John of Troy, Ala.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 23, at Hopewell Springs Baptist Church. Services will be conducted by his nephew, Rev. Tom Ownby and Pastor Chris Farmer.
