Eliza Ann Holem
Eliza Ann Kreighbaum, daughter of Jacob and Hannah Kreighbaum (nee Hannah York, who married on 4 Mar 1831), was born Jun 1, 1847, in Summit county, Ohio. When she was about seven years old the family came to Marshall county where the remainder of her life was spent.
Of her six brothers and three sisters but two brothers, George W. of South Bend, and Jacob of this county, remain. (Her siblings were Andrew (b.1831), Elizabeth (b.1833), Edwin (b.1835), Hiram (b.1837), George (b. 1840, Aaron (b.1843), Lovina (b.1850), Jacob Wesley (b.1851) and Mary Alice (b.1856). (A family tree on Ancestry.com attributes another sibling, an infant who was born and died in 1838.)
(Eliza's father Jacob was a farmer, and she would marry a farmer.)
On October 10, 1867 she was united in marriage to Adam Holem, who, with their eight children, survive her. They are Clinton Charles, of this county, Mrs. Andrew Bottorff (Priscilla) of Ray, N. Dakota, Mrs. A.M. Harris (Margaret Olive) of South Bend, Mrs. Charles Ramsby (Prudie Elva) of Walkerton, Jacob Arthur of Streator, Ills., Emma Eulalia and Pearl E. who reside at home and Emory J., now of Ray, N. Dakota. There are also six grandchildren, Lloyd Bottorff, Howard Ramsby, Margaret Harris, J.J. Bernice and Grace Holem. This is the first time death has visited the home.
Uniting with the German Baptist Brethren church in 1887, she has lived a consecrated Christian life not only in the home but among the neighbors and friends. Her devotion to her family will never be forgotten.
