Rudolph R. "Rudy" Dreiling, 93, Hays, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Hays Good Samaritan Society. He was born Dec. 22, 1920, in Victoria to Aloysius and Anna (Gabel) Dreiling.

He married Ottilia Leiker on June 24, 1940, in Munjor. She preceded him in death March 8, 2001.

He was a farmer, was employed at Hays Flour Mill, M&W Drilling Co. and various other oil companies. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Munjor, and St. Francis Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council No. 11492. He enjoyed dancing, mowing grass and working.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Gamble and husband, Dean, Hays, and Patricia Tasset, Augusta; his special caregiver, Virginia Jacobs; 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Adolph Dreiling; a sister, Martina Leiker; two sons-in-law, Lloyd Nichols and Lowell Tasset; a great-granddaughter; a great-great-grandson; and many half and step-brothers and sisters.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Catholic Church, Munjor; burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 9:40 a.m. Friday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine. A vigil will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary at 6:30 p.m., both at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Knights of Columbus Council No. 11492 or St. Francis Church in care of the funeral home.
