William Goppert

Services will be held Tuesday for William Frederick Goppert Jr., 72, of the Chester - Newell Rd., who died Saturday at 5:30 a.m. at home from a self - inflicted gunshot wound, according to Hancock County Coroner George Naymick. Mr. Goppert was born May 16, 1904, in East Liverpool, a son of William Frederick Goppert, Sr. and Sarah Beaver Goppert. He was retired in 1968 as a foreman for the Ohio Power Co. after 48 years' service. He was a social member of the American Legion at Chester. Besides his widow, Mrs. Gladys Pearl Louk Goppert, whom he married Aug. 29, 1925, survivors include two sons, James F. Goppert and Eugene E. Goppert, both of Chester; two brothers, Eugene R. Goppert of Aliquippa and Victor M. Goppert of Chester; a sister, Mrs. Margaret K. Wright of Chester; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild. The rites will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester by Evangelist Frank Higginbotham of the Virginia Ave. Church of Christ. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel this afternoon and tonight.
