Retired from Union Carbide Corp. and a resident of Prairieville, Arlo G. Pickering died at 4:05 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2011, at The Carpenter House. He was 77 and a native of Cartersville, Mont.

A casual memorial gathering will be held in Gonzales. Arrangements by Church Funeral Services & Crematory.

Survived by his wife, Flo Pickering; daughter and son-in-law, Traci and Mark Roussel; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Pam Pickering and Dan and Cindy Pickering; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Bobbie and Jim Kuckler, Dorothy and Denny Minder, Millie Beardman and Margie Mize; brother, Andrew "Butch" Schlumberg; 10 grandchildren, Dusty, Brandon, Andy, Larry, Megan, Caroline, Nicole, Heather, Kelci and Karli; and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Pickering Schlumberg; father, Henry J. Pickering; stepfather, Andrew Schlumberg; and brother, Dan D. Pickering.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed spending time with family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Joseph Hospice.
