Altoona Mirror, 28 October 1912:
"Robert Atkinson Bonine, an aged and respected citizen of the city and retired photographer, died at his home, 1611 Seventeenth avenue, at 11 o'clock Saturday morning of paralysis and kidney trouble after an illness extending over a period of three and a half years. His condition had been serious for some time and his death was not unexpected. Deceased was born at Lancaster, December 11, 1836, and was reared at that place. On October 23, 1860, he married Matilda Hollinger, of Lancaster, and immediately after the wedding he came to this section of the state and had since lived in Altoona and Hollidaysburg. He embarked in photography, established a studio on Fourteenth street above Eleventh avenue and there for many years he followed his calling. For the past several years he had been living a retired life. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Robert K., of Honolulu; Harry S., of Duquesne; Mrs. S. M. Bankert, of Washington, D. C.,; Mrs. Park McFarlane, Mrs. Homer A. Biddle, Elias D., Ralph A. and Elsie J. all of this city. The funeral will take place this afternoon, private services to be conducted at the house at 2.30 o'clock by Rev. H. L. Bowlby, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Private interment will be made in the family burial plot at Hollidaysburg."
