Johnnie Leon Aven, 89, of Corsicana, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 14, 2014, at Corley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Corley Funeral Home with Dr. Rick Lamb officiating. Interment will be in Dresden Cemetery.

Johnnie served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II spending some of his enlistment time in Iceland. He enlisted as a Private and was discharged as a Sergeant. On February 18, 1983, Johnnie married Genelle Farmer. He was an avid farmer in Powell, Texas, and it has been said that he was always working (and working faster than anyone else). After retiring from farming, Johnnie loved to travel and to play dominoes with friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Genelle; and siblings; Hazel Ragland, Helen Featherston, and Billy Gene Aven.

Survivors include his son, Jackie G. Aven and wife, Jerry Ann, of Houston; grandchildren; Tammy Rea and husband, Don, Tracey Allen and husband, Tony, Anisa Aven, and Chance G. Aven and wife, Kimberly, all of Houston; 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby Holloway, of Mexia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
