Margaret Elizabeth Brooks Lavender age 87 passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014. Services will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday, March 8, at Gordon First Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Curry officiating. Burial will follow at Ramah Cemetery.
Mrs. Lavender was a native and life-long resident of Gordon. She was retired from the Wilkinson County Board of Education. Mrs. Lavender was preceded in death by her parents Fred Daniel and Cora Elizabeth Luther Brooks, her husband Frank Lavender, two sons, Michael Lavender and Byron Lavender. She was a member of Gordon First Baptist Church and was famously known for her baking and sewing talents, serving many throughout the years.
Survivors include her daughters-in-law Phyllis Lavender of Milledgeville, and Freida Lavender of Eatonton, a brother, Everett Brooks (Sylena) of Gordon, a sister Sara Brooks Arvin of Pekin, IL, five grandchildren, Melissa Bassett (Richard), Keith Evans (Kim), Lauire Tharpe (Jamason Byrd), Chris Lavender (Nikki), and Amanda L. Jones (Jonathan), eleven great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
