Arlene M. (Bernard) Brandewie,
Age 77, of St. Rt. 362, Fort Loramie, passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio. She was born June 19, 1936, in St. Henry, Ohio, to the late William and Ada (Ahlers) Bernard. On May 4, 1955, at St. Henry Catholic Church in St. Henry, Arlene married Maurice J. Brandewie who preceded her in death on March 16, 1988. Surviving are five children: Robert Brandewie of Findlay, Beverly Coles of Sidney, Brenda Platfoot (& fiance Lonnie Miller) of Kettlersville, Barb Duncum (& fiance David Duckro) of Anna, Bonnie Brandewie (& fiance Kevin Wendel) of Fort Loramie; nine grandchildren: Jesse (LeAnn), Kevin, and Kyle (Melissa) Brandewie, Josh Coles, Dustin (Charity) and Ryan (Kelly) Platfoot, Desiree (Shawn) Stangel, Brad (Jenny) Duncum, Amanda (AJ) Dulaney and eleven great-grandchildren; four siblings: Norman "Rocky" Bernard of New Weston, Edna Fox of St. Henry, Arthur & Janet Bernard of St. Henry, Allen Bernard of Cincinnati; sisters & brothers-in-law: Ginny Brandewie of Minster, Lester Brandewie of Celina, Paul Brandewie of Sidney, Joannie & Paul Maurer of Fort Loramie, and step brother-in-law, Jim & Carol Bornhorst of Fort Loramie. She was preceded in death by sisters & brothers-in-law: Ruth Bernard, John Fox, Lillian & Eugene Sherman, Joe, Dorothy, Walter & Dolores, Jean and Rose Brandewie. Mrs. Brandewie retired in 2006 from Dorothy Love in Sidney, where she had been housekeeping supervisor for many years. She attended St. Michael Catholic Church and had been a member of the Fort Loramie American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Arlene was an avid reader and enjoyed many Friday night bingo games at the Minster K of C Hall. She was also known by her family to be a prayerful person. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 8, 2014, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. Steven Shoup presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery. Friends may call Friday 2:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie. Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or charity of donor's choice.
