Developer of the 'Miracle Mile' district of Los Angeles. As a young man he developed a number of commercial properties and manufacturing buildings on Maple, Wall and Santee Streets and built some of Los Angeles' earliest "large" apartment buildings. A bronze bust of him stands at Wilshire and Curson to honor him. He was an original member of the Los Angeles Country Club.
