Samuel was the son of Gabriel Iszard and Abigail Ledden. He married first to Bathsheba Fleming on 3 Jan. 1828 in Gloucester Co., NJ. They had 8 children together, several of whom are linked below. Following Bethsheba's death in 1877, Samuel married second to Mary Peterson on 2 Jan. 1879 in Clayton, Gloucester Co.

Samuel was listed as a farmer in census records, but also ran the Millford Glassworks with his brother Joseph under the name Samuel Iszard & Company, ca. 1856-1860. He lived on Main Street in Clayton. He is referred to as "Esq.," so perhaps was also a justice of the peace or judge.
