DAVENPORT - Funeral Services and Mass of Christian Burial for Keith C. Carstens, a resident of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2006, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park at the All Veterans Memorial with services conducted by American Legion Post #26. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Halligan-McCabe-De Vries Funeral Home, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or American Legion Post #26. Keith died Sunday, January 22, 2006, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus. Keith Calvin Carstens was born December 4, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of William Carstens and Geneva (Eggert) Carstens. He graduated from Bennett High School, Bennett, Iowa, and received his Associate Degree in Business Administration from Palmer Junior College in 1977. Keith married Mary H. Hartog on June 15, 1968, at Holy Family Catholic Church. He was employed by Bendix Corporation since 1966, retiring from Northrup Grumman in June 2002 as a senior buyer after 36 years of service. He served in the Armed Forces from 1964 to 1966 and the Reserves from 1966 to 1970 spending time in Germany and overseas. Keith was a great sportsman. He and his boys spent many hours together fishing and hunting. He enjoyed camping and spending time with family and friends, traveling, bingo and gambling. Keith taught all of his children to play softball as well as being their coach. His grandchildren, Jessica and Kacie, had a special place in his heart. Keith was a member of Ducks Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation and Pheasants Forever. Survivors include his wife, Mary; a daughter, Lynn Carstens, a son, Tim (Deana) Carstens, grandchildren, Jessica and Kacie Carstens, a daughter-in-law, Donna Carstens, and his mother, Geneva Carstens, all of Davenport; sisters, Karen (William) Guinn, Davenport, and Kathy (Dr. Robert) Barnes, Winchester, Kentucky; and many neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William, in 1999, and by his son, Brian, on July 19, 2003.
