Old Resident of Dubois Passes Away

John Alfred Hoover, a resident of this immediate section for the past 58 years, died Sunday after an illness that continued for one year. His death was the result of complications. The deceased was a well known citizen and was engaged in the lumbering business for the DuBois interests here in DuBois and Hicks Run for 33 years. Lately he had been living a retired life, but had enjoyed good health until a year ago. He passed away at 8:30 o'clock Sunday evening. He was a man highly regarded in this community and news of his death will be learned with keen regret.
Mr. Hoover was born January 17, 1870 in Clearfield county and had resided in this county all his life. He was the son of David and Emma Shaffer-Hoover. He was a charter member of the Fourth Ward Hose company.
The deceased is survived by Elvie Hoover, DuBois; Mrs. C Smith, Munderf; Mrs Ray Brady, Lebanon, and Mrs. Pete Jackson, DuBois; one sister, Mrs. Ella Fauzy, DuBois; brothers, Joshua Hoover, DuBois; Isaac, Detriot; Howard, DuBois; Clarence, DuBois; Blaine, DuBois. Eleven grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the home, conducted by Rev. Arnold Ohl, of the Mt. Zion church. Burial will be made in the Morningside cemetery. Friends will be received at the home after 4 p.m. Monday.
