Absolom Sheridan Morrison (12 November 1876-3 May 1964). Son of the late Lewis C. Morrison and Sis Denton Morrison was born at Campbell, Arkansas and departed this life at the Williams Hospital in Marshall, at the age of 87 years.

He was a farmer and lived all his life in Searcy and Stone Counties. He was well known as an old time fiddler and had won several awards in this field, particularly the Burl Ives Award in Folk Music for 1963. He had also played for the Grand Old Opry.

He was married to Delia Simmons, who preceded him in death. To this union two children were born. Hubert Morrison

Later he was married to Jenny Cooper and to this union six children were born. Three of his children preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife Jenny Morrison of the home; three sons, Hubert Morrison of Harrison and Ulis and Bob Morrison of Campbell; two daughters, Mrs Della Horton and Mrs Nola Richardson of Marshall; one twin brother, Abbie Morrison of Nettleton, AR; two half brothers, George Morrison of Landis and Perry Morrison of San Gabriel, CA; three half-sisters, Mrs. Ida Simmons, Mrs Lula Davis and Mrs Zona Perry, all of Leslie. There are eighteen granchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, plus host of friends and relatives.

He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Campbell.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Chester Roten of Harrison and Rev. Arvil Pemberton of Harriet. Burial was at 2pm May 4, 1964 in the Harness Cemetery, under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home.
