Mrs. Ida Laufer, mother of Walter Laufer, 1928 Olympics swimming star and holder of several backstroke records, died yesterday at her home, 2303 Wheeler St., Clifton Heights. She was 81 years old. In addition to her son, Mrs. Laufer is survived by her husband, Christian J. Laufer, retired tailor, to who she had been married 53 years; a sister, Mrs. Marie Rothaus; a brother, John Walter, both of Cincinnati; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday and the Busse & Borgmann Parkway funeral home. Burial will be in Baltimore Pike Cemetery.
