Pauline was born Feb. 8, 1925, in Normal, the daughter of Roy and Corrina Graham Hill. She married Wendell B. Alexander on Feb. 14, 1944, in Bloomington. They would have celebrated their 70th anniversary this year. She lived her entire wedded life on the family farm, which had been in Wendell's family for more than 100 years. Wendell died July 4, 2013.
Left behind to remember their mother are three sons, Terry (Karen) Alexander, Bloomington; Tom (Helen) Alexander, Indianapolis, Ind.; and Tim (Sheila) Alexander, LeRoy; seven grandchildren, Amy Alexander, Indianapolis; Brett (Joann) Alexander, Lang (Tim) Wilson, Bart Alexander, Jason (Sarah) Alexander, Wendy (Nick Watkins) Alexander, all of Bloomington; and Michael Bray (fiancÚ Rachel Henrikson), North Hollywood, Calif.; and 15 great-grandchildren, Kyle, Keegan, Braden, Jordan, Brooklyn, Draper, Preston, Brianna, Benjamin, Brady, McKenna, Joseph, Maxwell, Riley, and Michaela. She is also survived by several nieces and cousins in the Bloomington area.
Along with her parents and stepmother, Edna Hill, Pauline was preceded in death by her grandson, Bradley S. Alexander.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Normal, and a former member of St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary where she served as a buyer for the gift shop along with working in the shop. She also worked the elections as a judge for many years.
Pauline worked side-by-side with her husband Wendell in their farming operation for many years prior to retirement. She could drive a truck to the elevator like a pro. She was known for being a wonderful cook and enjoyed doing it and sharing it with her family and friends.
The family wishes to extend a special "thank you" to her granddaughter Lang, who gave special care and comfort to make her final days some of the best. We also want to thank her cousin Sandy McBurney for the continued support she gave to Pauline to help brighten her days. A big thank you goes out to the entire staff at Luther Oaks who became part of her family.
