Ricky Edward Benfield, 49, of 3780 LR Walker Road, Morganton, North Carolina 28655, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014 in Burke County.
Rick was born July 7, 1964 in Burke County to Mickey Benfield and the late Thomas Edward Benfield. He was married to his wife of twenty eight years and companion of thirty one, Sherry Benfield. He was a construction worker, a NASCAR fan, and an avid outdoorsman. Rick will be greatly missed by his friends and loved ones.
In addition to his father, Tom Benfield, he was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Elizabeth Honeycutt and Meadow Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Benfield of Morganton; three daughters, Amanda Williams, Angela Benfield & boyfriend Mark, and Ashley Benfield & boyfriend Ricky, all of Morganton; his mother, Mickey Benfield of Morganton; five grandchildren, Trevor Honeycutt, Malachi Gore, Taylor Perry, Gavin Blalock, and Nevaeh Malcomb, all of Morganton; two cousins, Darlene King & husband Mike of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and Dwight Street of Morganton; and Rick's beloved cat, Puff Puff.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Friday, February 14, 2014 at the memorial chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home in Morganton. Burial will follow at the Gibbs Chapel Church Cemetery.
