Johnnie Scoggins, 88, of Mendenhall, MS passed away January 20, 2014. He was born on December 10, 1925 to the parents of Ethel (Cross) Scoggins and W. C. Scoggins in Vaiden, MS. He enlisted in the US Army in 1944 and earned the rank of Private First Class serving under Gen. George S. Patton and helped with the occupation of Europe at the war's end.

Mr. Scoggins is survived by his wife of 60 years, Laquetta Cole Scoggins; four sons, John R. Scoggins (Shirley), Ronnie Scoggins (Ouida), Anthony Donielo Scoggins (Debbie), Stephen Scoggins (Dollie); two daughters, Amy Laster (Tom), Ann Klobe (Paul); brother, Max Scoggins (Dolrae); two sisters. Avanelle Tyler, Doris Gibson; eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, January 22, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Services are 11:00 am Thursday, January 23, at Kennedy Springs Baptist Church in Mendenhall with Rev. Don Kleeb officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
