The remains of the late Mrs. Emeline Emmons of Elgin arrived on the 4:15 train and were taken immediately to the cemetery. She was buried beside her husband Andre B. Emmons who died nine years ago. He was one of the pioneer settlers of Sterling. He came here with his family and several of his brothers not far from the middle forities where he engaged with several of them in the manfacture of wagons residing here some time. Later he removed to Albany, on the Mississippi, where he remained for some years serving for some time as postmaster. Later he removed to Chicago where he engaged in the commission business for some years. He then removed to Canada where he resided for a number of years after which he came to Rock Falls for a dozen years or more where he died about nine years ago. Mrs. Emmons removed to Elgin soon afterwards where she had relatives then residing. She was taken ill a short while ago having gangrene in one of her feet and died last Monday. The funeral services were held at the home in Elgin, when the remains were shipped here for burial near her old home of half a century before. She was seventy-eight years old.
