Bethel Mallicoat Whaley, age 87, went to her Heavenly home, July 7, 2022. She became a Christian at an early age and was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Thorn Hill, TN and was baptized in February in a creek with ice on the banks. She was a homemaker and also worked for approximately 15 years at Henrite Products Corporation.

Bethel loved to spend her time gardening, berry picking, canning, making preserves, shopping, and going to yard sales and auctions. Bethel was outspoken with a kind heart and loved animals. She was a devoted daughter, wife, and mother who cared for her mother, father, and two husbands through terminal illnesses.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Garrett Mallicoat and second husband, Bearnard Whaley; parents, William and Ada Mae Holt; brother, Gerald Holt; and beloved family dogs, Bre and Baby Dog.

She is survived by her daughter, Vonda Laughlin Dockery; son-in-law, Michael D. Dockery; brother, Ronald (Ruth) Holt; sister, Jean (Paul) Rucker; sister-in-law, Joann Mallicoat; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; and good friend, Virginia Wolfe.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials to be made to the C.A.R.E animal shelter. P.O. Box 1791 Dandridge, TN 37760.

The family will receive friends at Farrar Funeral home in Jefferson City, TN, July 13, 2022 from 12:00-1:00 p.m., with a graveside service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Hamblen Memory Gardens with Reverend Darrell Chambers officiating.
