Charles Allan SKELTON, American lawman and firearms author, served in the US Marine Corps from 1945-1946 and a brief time in college before service as a Amarillo city patrolman and with the US Border Patrol, Sheriff of Deaf Smith County, Texas, and investigator with both the US Customs Service and Drug Enforcement Administration. Skeeter wrote his first handgun article in 1959. In 1974 he retired from the DEA to devote full time to his writing and worked as a consultant to various firearms manufacturers. Skeeter was handgun editor for Shooting Times magazine and columnist with his "Hip Shots" articles.
