Wesley Wayne Bettenhausen, 74, went to be with our Lord on January 27, after a courageous 8 month battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully at Essentia Health with his family at his side.

Wes was born June 24, 1939 in McIntosh County, Wishek, ND, to Walter and Lydia (Gall) Bettenhausen. He attended school in Wishek, and also Hanson Mechanical Trade School where he received his Dr. of Motor Degree. Wes married Georgia Johnk on September 16, 1960. They are the parents of 2 children, Teresa and Steven. Wes worked at Interstate I-94 Standard for awhile until going into business for himself, along with his wife. He started at 8th St. Mobil and then moved over to Gateway Service Center Mobil for 40+ years. It is now Gateway Service Center Cenex operated by his son and daughter-in-law.

Wes was very active in Fort Ransom Sod Busters, the ND Draft Horse Association, and Wagon Trains. He loved farming with horses. He was also on the Mobil National Dealers Advisory Board for some time.

Wes leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Georgia; daughter, Teresa Roberts; son, Steven, and 2 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Dianna Ostern, Virginia Miller and Sylvia Besser; and many nieces and nephews. Wes was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lydia, and two brother, Harvey and Kenneth.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Mohoney, and all the doctors and nurses in CCU for the excellent care Wes received.

Visitation is 5-7pm Thursday, with a prayer service at 7pm, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. The funeral service is 1pm Friday at First Congregational UCC, Fargo. Burial is at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
