Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Martha J. Barney, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. She was born on September 11, 1926 in Ogden, Utah to William Wallace and Alice Marvel May Johnson.
Mom graduated from Ogden High School. She attended Weber State College, U of U, and BYU. She especially loved her three summers working in West Yellowstone and the year spent cooking in the New England States Mission home.
Martha married Dick Barney, on July 28, 1951 in the Logan LDS Temple. Dick passed away on June 26, 1977, just before their 26th Wedding Anniversary.
Her most important goal in life was becoming a mother. Her eight children were the most important people in her life. She loved being a mom and homemaker.
Martha was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous capacities including, Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society. Especially near to her heart was visiting teaching and attending the temple.
Mom served her food with love. Her children will tell you that she could put anything together and it would taste good. She enjoyed embroidering, working in her garden, watching birds, "mosey days", going for long drives. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
