Jeremiah Bolon was born in London, Virginia, A.D. 1829, and died at West Liberty, Ia., Sept. 16, 1910, at the age of 81 years. he was the youngest son of ten children, of which two still survive him, a sister, Mrs. Jane Preston, residing at Springdale, Ia., and a brother Benjamin Bolon, residing at Salem, Ohio.
Jeremiah Bolon moved with his parents to Columbiana County, Ohio, when he was four years old. In 1857, he moved to the state of Iowa, and settled in the eastern part of Johnson county, afterwards he moved to Cedar county on a farm north of the village of Springdale, from here he moved to a farm west of the village of Rochester, residing here until he purchased a home in West Liberty about fifteen years ago, where he resided at the time of his deceased. He married Miss Susanna Stout, to this union were born three children Wilbur Bolon, residing with his family at Brighton, Ia., and Mrs. William Gruwell, residing at West Branch, Ia., Clarence Bolon, the youngest of the three died several years ago. Jeremiah Bolon was a very quiet, unassuming kind man, religiously inclined, a loving and loved husband, a kind and affectionate father and a good neighbor. he was not a member of any religious organization but frequently attended services at the Christian church at West Liberty,Iowa, where his wife was a member.
The funeral was conducted by Rev. Whoonson, pastor of the Friends church at Springdale. he was interred in Friends cemetery. The pall bearers were composed principally of his old neighbors, being William Mather, Shaddon Todd, w. H. Maxson, J. M. Bailey, W. A. Phelps and J. W. Horn.
