Son of John and Mary Stone. Family lived in Virginia and settled in Spartanburg,SC. He moved to Franklin County, Georgia, where he married his sweetheart, Matilda Bagwell in 1819. They had four children: Harriet Catherine, Clifford, Randal C., and Frances Salina.

Deer brothers and friends,
I takethis opportunity of inform you that we are all well at present hoping thes few lines will find you all in the same stat of health I have not heard from you sence I recev. Henry Stone letter April 1st 1823 and I under stood from him that all hopes of life was gone with my mother and it griv my heart sore that I could not come to see her I did want to see her very bad once more I have never hear wher she is ded or living but I have giv it over that she is d I have nothing strainger to inform you of at presant I want to see you all once more again but I doute the oppertunity of it I want one of the boys to come out to see me this summer The one that can mak it the mos conveniant Tilmo Stone or Moses Stone or Faris Stone for I have commence the hating bizness and mak a bad out and I want instruin from you for I can get as much work as I can doue the bizness I
