Son of Daniel Webster Cooley and Martha Hissom. Alex married Anna Jones Barker, a widow, on July 2, 1922 in Tyler Co., WV. H.K. Riffe, Minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, performed the wedding ceremony. Alex was a veteran of WWI.
Funeral services were held Friday in Sardis for Alex Hissom Cooley. Mr. Cooley died Tuesday, August 7, at his home in Sardis. A retired oil field worker and a veteran of World War I, he was born July 13, 1893, at Sardis, the son of Daniel and Martha Hissom Cooley. Surviving are his wife, Anna, a sister, Mrs. Neil Pubal of Cleveland and a brother, Ira Cooley of Sardis. Arthur Probst conducted the services from the Rush funeral home in Sardis and burial was in Northview Cemetery in New Martinsville.
