VICTORIA - William Martin "Billy" Shaw, 77, of Victoria passed away January 21, 2014. He was born November 28, 1936, in Karnack, Texas, to the late Martin Commodore Shaw and the late Mary Bunner Huston. Billy served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Bon Homme Richard. He was retired after 39 years of service with Union Carbide and Brown & Root. Billy was also a member of Northside Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Lou Vann Squyres Shaw; daughters, Sandra Pruitt and husband, Gary, and Pamela Shaw, all of Victoria; sisters, Glenda Faye Hewson of Ft. Worth, Linda Bodiford of Henderson, Carolyn Butler of Ft. Smith Arkansas, and Debra; brother; Johnny Greer of Halsville; mother-in-law, Gladys Garrett Squyres of Yoakum; grandchildren, Jason Pruitt and wife, Tracy, Wendy Venglar and Amber Venglar; great-grandson, Gage William Majefski; his four footed walking buddy, "Bo." Billy is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Dewayne Pruitt and great-grandson, Zane Martin Majefski.
Burial with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Daniel Squyres, Paul Squyres, John Squyres, Jason Pruitt, Gary Pruitt, Michael Shaw, Gage Majefski, Marco Flores and Walter Squyres, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be all retired Union Carbide and Dow employees, the Mall Coffee Drinkers, Billy Garvin Shaw, Wendy and Amber Venglar, Rae Denise Flores and Brandy Miller.
Billy will be remembered as the man who could fix anything with duct tape, WD-40 and tie wraps. Mr. "Fix-it," you will be missed!
