Walter served as a Private, Company A, 4th Marines, 6th Marine Division, U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He resided in Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire prior to the war. He was married however his wife's name is currently unknown.

Walter was "Killed In Action" on Okinawa during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.
