DENTON, JOHN "REECE", SR. - age 84, of Kodak, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014. He was a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church. He retired from Cherokee Textile Mills/Dan River. Reece enjoyed farming, reading, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ella Mae Catlett Denton; four infant brothers; and one infant sister.

Survivors include: wife, Loraine Kirby Denton; son, John R. Denton, Jr. and wife Debbie; daughters, Brenda Denton, Kathy Denton; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Lloyd Denton and wife Agnes, Jack Denton and wife Virginia; sisters, Gladys Gaylor, Lola Mae Hardin; a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Saturday, with funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m., at Beech Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Jerry Vittatoe and Rev. Richard Compton will officiate. Music provided by Jeff Ingram. Interment 2:00 p.m. Sunday, in Beech Springs Cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
