Marie Cecilia Walter, age 93, of Duncan's Bridge, MO, passed from this life to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 8, 2013, at her residence.

Marie was born on May 6, 1920, in rural Leonard, MO to Herman and Salome Alice Bichsel Bange. She was a devoted wife of Herbert Washington Walter whom she married on July 10, 1941, at Clarence, MO and remained so until he passed away on April 8, 1968. Marie was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who always enjoyed spending time with her family.

She loved the sound of children in her home and was never ready for them to leave after a visit. She is survived by five sons and two daughters: Charles Walter and wife Connie of rural Duncan's Bridge, William Walter and wife Louise of Higbee, Jim Walter and wife Marilyn of Duncan's Bridge, Gary Walter of Moberly and Harold Walter and wife Elizabeth of Duncan's Bridge, Donna Walter of the home and Mildred Walter of Moberly. Also surviving are eighteen grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Todd and Frances Beall, both of Clarence.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three daughters, Mary Walter, Leta Purdy and Viann Traver; three brothers, two in infancy and Antone Bange; four sisters, Caroline Timbrook, Rosella Baker, Louvenia Stamp and Evelyn Bange; and one great great grandchild, Tray Walter.

Marie will be remembered for her warm and kind heart. She was always willing to help anyone and everyone. She graduated from high school in Clarence and received her teaching certificate from Northeast Missouri State College. She was a teacher in her earlier life, teaching at Grubb College west of Leonard, Shale and Chick Schools. She raised livestock at her farm for many years, and also was known for the German shepherd dogs she raised and sold. Marie was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Clarence.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Clarence with a vigil service at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at St. Patrick's Catholic church in Clarence with burial to follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Clarence.
