(Excerpt from The Kansas City Star (MO) - 10-Nov-2000)
Kathleen Brown Waas, 75, Overland Park, KS, went to Heaven on Wednesday, November 8, 2000, at 6:30 p.m. from her home surrounded by her family.
Kathleen, known by many in the family, as Sis or Aunt Kanny, was born on a farm in Linn County, MO on September 7, 1925, to Milo and Alta Maxwell.
She attended school in Linneus, MO, and moved to Kansas City after graduating, and at the age of 18 assisted the war effort building B-25's at Fairfax. She later worked for the Baptist publication, "Word & Way," the Kansas City Board of Education, and the Internal Revenue Service, from which she retired after over 25 years.
She joined Swope Park Baptist Church in 1945, and remained an active member until her death. She served in the choir, Sunday school, nursery, and senior programs. She was also a member of the Baptist Hospital Auxiliary.
Kathleen was truly a Proverbs 31 woman, a kind and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed by all.
