BATTLE GROUND - Goldie Alice Pyle Ross, 53, died at 6:30 PM Wednesday [Oct. 16, 1991] in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, where she had been hospitalized for three weeks, following serious illness for three years. Born Jan. 27, 1938, at Forbus, TN, she moved from there in 1948 to Hoopeston, IL, where she graduated from Hoopeston High School in 1956. She moved to Remington, IN, in 1967, and had lived in Battle Ground for 15 years. Mrs. Ross was a charter member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church at Delphi. She was a homemaker who enjoyed collecting dolls and ceramic painting.

On Dec. 30, 1967, she was married to L. Verlin Ross at Hoopeston, IL, who survives. Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Wendy Grimes of Santa Clara, CA, and Michelle (Mrs. William) McCaw of Lafayette; two stepsons, Kenneth L. Ross of Arlington Heights, IL, and Eric A. Ross of Garner, NC; her stepmother, Mrs. Alice Pyle of Hoopeston, IL; four sisters, Ruth (Mrs. Raymond) Cronkhite of Danville, IL, Edith (Mrs. Raymond) Combs, Mary A. Simpson, both of Hoopeston, and Grace (Mrs. Thomas) Bloyd of Forest, VA; a stepbrother, Ernie Garagus of Hoopeston; five step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, James and Jenny Pyle; and a brother, George "Frank" Pyle.
