Mary was born July 1, 1921, in Chase County, Kan., the oldest child of John and Agnes (McCallum) Wells. She was united in marriage to Henry T. Biehl on Dec. 22, 1946, in Elmdale, Kan. He preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1996.

She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Chase County through eighth grade, and she graduated from Elmdale High School in 1939. She also attended Emporia State Teachers College and Salt City Business College. Earlier in life, Mary had been an executive secretary for the Extension office at Kansas State College (where she met her husband), and later with the Wichita Chamber of Commerce. She was a 40-year member of First Presbyterian Church, Davenport, where she served as a deacon and prayer chain coordinator. Her graciousness was an example and an enduring legacy to all of those whose lives she touched.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda (John) Molyneaux, Davenport; two grandchildren, Jessica (Jason) Molyneaux Marsh, Eagan, Minn., and Mark (Sarah) Molyneaux, St. Paul, Minn.; and a great-grandson, Edison Henry Marsh.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; her daughter, Janet Lee, in infancy; and all of her siblings, two brothers, Robert Wells and J. David Wells, and a sister, Dorothy Vaught.
